March 2022 – News

Ash Wednesday

The beginning of Lent and a time of reflection and preparation. The season of Lent lasts for forty days (not including Sundays). It is a time when Christians reflect and prepare for the celebrations of Easter. Some people fast, eat frugally or give up treats following the example of Jesus, who fasted for forty days in the wilderness.

People also give to charity, set aside time to study the bible and meet with other Christians to reflect on Jesus’ life and prepare for the events of Holy Week and Easter.

A series of short Lent reflections followed by Compline will be held in our ZOOM Church every Thursday evening at 7.00. For the link please e mail Steve Percival. stevepercival@hotmail.co.uk

Our plans for Easter Week will be published on face book, on the website https://stjohnthebaptistchurchwilberfoss.co.uk later this month, with a complete plan in the April Village News. We plan to carry the cross through the village on Good Friday, stopping at various stations for a prayer. This will end at the Church for a service. Interested? Then why not join us. More details to follow.
